A Week-Long CLE at the Texas Trial College

I spent the week of March 25th at the Tim Evans Trial College in Huntsville, Texas, trying to learn new techniques and take advantage of amazing actors playing the roles of our witnesses in a fake case. For example, I crawled onto the defense table and acted out a sexual assault while crossing the complaining witness. Not sure how soon I'll practice that one in real life. I also got to watch three lawyers do three separate jury selections for the same made-up case. Witnesses each lawyers’ style was extremely helpful—you have to be yourself because the jury can smell a rat. Some of the faculty included Mark Theissen, Carmen Roe, Kerri Anderson Donica (the current president of TCDLA), and of course Tim Evans himself.

Thank you to the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (TCDLA) for this awesome program and introducing me to tons of new friends.
